 And the rocket launches when?

I know I need to start using starters, but this makes me think of slide rules and pocket protectors. I may have to hold of until I understand this better.

Some of us are engineering/research types- I think I might actually enjoy much of the process more than drinking it!

plus a rocket is only a rocket- beer can also be engineered but there still is a little magic!

jmsully - get started NOW! I'd pitch it into 1L to start - then split it up into two 1.5 L after a couple of days on the stirplate. No need to chill and decant, unless you want to at the end. If you use an extra light DME - I'd just pitch the whole thing.

+1 Don't wait until the last minute to do the starter if you can help it...

Thanks everyone. I am doing the first starter right now (1 liter). I expect this will produce approximately 100 billion viable cells. In a couple days I will add these cells to another starter (1.5L). This will hopefully produce ~250 billion healthy cells, ready to rock.

This is my first Kolsch and I am totally psyched! :drink

In case anyone cares, I have just started drinking this Kolsch and it is the best beer I have ever made.

Thanks to all who provided feedback on my starter question.

Prost! :aaron
