De Dolle Oerbier Special Reserva

330 ml. brown bottle. Poured out a murky, cloudy caramel brown color. Thick tan colored head on this brute, it lasted until the bottom of the glass. Aromas are of sour apple candy, sugar, brettanomyces galore. Very little in the malt aromas and no hop aromas at all. Sour tasting, either on purpose or it’s infected. Lactic tang right up front, lemon juice middle, and mouth puckering finish to it. Man, this is one sour ass beer! It takes you by surprize, that much is certain. Mixed mascerated fruits in the mix, along with a plum wine taste as well. Not my favorite Belgian, that’s for sure.
