It's drinkable, descent at best in my opinion.

+1 for Hop cubed. Like all the Clipper City brews it is delicious.

I'm not sure it's fair to compare it to Long Hammer as CC's is an Imperial, right?

That's hard to say... Hop Cubed falls in CC's Heavy Seas series which have higher ABV, but I looked at the website and the Hop Cubed has an ABV of 7.25% which falls in the BJCP range of 5.5-7.5%. I'm not sure about the IBUs though.

Me neither. I perceive the bitterness to be imperial but they're certainly not as big as a Hopslam or Rogue Imperial IPA.

I find most of Loose Cannon's hop emphasis to be in flavor rather than bitterness. It really does have more of the malt backbone and viscosity of an imperial but isn't terribly high in abv. Kinda walks the middle ground. I've also tried their Heavy Seas Weizenbock recently and also comes with a strong recommendation.

Definitely. That Weizenbock is awesome. I think it's a seasonal beer since I haven't seen it on the shelves lately.
