Indianapolis

Hey friends,
I'll be heading to Indianapolis in a couple weeks (Actually, the northern suburb of Carmel, IN).
Are there any "Must Try" breweries in the area? Local taprooms I need to visit?

Thanks and cheers! :jnj

I like Brugge Brasserie. They've got a nice little taproom in the Broad Ripple neighborhood, north of downtown. There's actually two other breweries in walking distance from them, although I distinctly remember my (somewhat drunken) friend berating the waitress at Broad Ripple Brewpub because they had mediocre beer (this was after a full day of judging the Indiana State Fair, and to be honest, the beer truly was mediocre). Sun King has been doing some great things, they're located just a bit east of downtown; I haven't actually been to their taproom though. RAM brewery, downtown is okay, but I wouldn't go out of my way to hit it.

Do go out of your way to find some 3 Floyds on draft, if you don't get that locally. They're in the Northwest corner of the state, almost to Chicago, so probably not convenient for you to drop by their taproom.

+1 for Brugge Brasserie. If you like Belgian beers at all, it is the only place in town that you MUST hit.

Didn't make it to Brugge Brasserie, but had a lot of excellent local beer from 3 Floyds, Sun King, and Upland. Also found some others from the midwest and east coast that I don't get here in CA. Thanks again for you input! :jnj
