beer aroma

As i drink north coast red seal or some of the lagunitas beer there is a common aroma. Ive tried to duplicate it but no luck. Is it a certain hop combo (cascade and willamette)? Is it the use of a malt in more percentages than I would figure using? I remember hop stoopid having it and definitely red seal. Ideas?

Maybe it is a yeast derived note you are getting combined with malt and hops?

If you're getting it in Stoopid, it's not likely yeast. I don't know about the other beer you listed, but there's a lot of CTZ in the Stoopid nose & it's done with extract which may be giving you that 'different' smell.

BrewinTricycle! You're a mod now too? Who'd you piss off?
