That would be my interpretation of it. It says we can't alter the RECIPE, says nothing about our procedures. What if someone oxygenated? Or fermented warmer or colder than called for in the instructions? Or god forbid left it on the yeast for 3 weeks instead of 2? I think a common sense application of the brewers code is all that's required here.

Now with all that said... This was a pricey kit and I'm sure that a bunch of folks (myself included) bought it just to enter the comp. They were slow to put out the rules, never really made them clear and If I were to be DQ'd over some nitpicky bullshit it would be a long time before the BN saw any of my money again.

All the same, I plan to enclose bribe bottles with my comp submission.

I tried to ask about the priming sugar during the last show, but never heard them address it.

Kinda sucks that they changed the dates too. It was originally set that you have to submit by December the 7th. Now they are stretching it out to the 17th for a January judging. With the time span that they have set, using the beer gun would be out of the question and we'd really have no choice but to bottle condition. I brewed this so I can get it out right before my vacation and so it would be at it's peak freshness.

What if you brew a batch, harvest the yeast to make a starter and use it.
Still classify as dry yeast and using what's in the box?
