Re: Janet's Brown Ale?

I made this beer for the first time and served it at my super bowl party. Everyone seemed to like it, even a few people who always talk about how they don't like "hoppy beers". I had no idea how hard the keg got hit until I changed out my CO2 today and found the keg to be probably only a few pints from being empty! I am going to have to brew this one again and soon. Thanks for sharing the recipe Tasty!!

I just had my first taste of my Janet's Brown, and even only after 1 week in the bottle it is hands down the best beer I have ever brewed. I can't believe this thing has the amount of alcohol it does.. it's so smooth!! I'm making another batch right away, and it's going to be on constant rotation.

Cheers!

I'm glad you liked it and thanks for putting it in your rotation.

Glad it got some play at your party. When balanced, it's a really easy drinker.

Dammit.. I pulled a Justin and fucked up my brew!

I decided to rebrew JBA, and wondered why I missed my pre-boil gravity by so much. I just realized I forgot the C40!

I added a pound a DME to save the batch.. but now I wonder what it's going to taste like.

Ought to make a damn fine brown. The first time I tried to make a JBA I missed the OG by a couple points, missed the FG by more than a couple points, forgot the mash hops and the dry hops and still thought it was my best brown yet. Seems it's a very forgiving recipe. The next time I made it I got all the hops in and hit all the numbers and think it's my best brown yet.

The JBA is Legendary, I've got one bottle left from my first batch, and 2 gallons conditioning in the fridge awaiting bottling.

I recently brewed this recipe (as printed in Brewing Classic Styles) and am really pleased. My wife likes it too, which is unusual for a hoppy beer. Thanks for sharing it, Tasty!
