Well, since you brought it up… :jnj I was planning on posting about it later this week, but here is a little more info (check the website for all the info)- Pardon the official format of the letter, but I wanted to keep it close to the mailer we'd sent out;

Calling all Homebrewers, Judges and Stewards,

It’s that time of year again—time to get your best recipes out and start thinking about your award-winning creation for the 16th Annual World Cup of Beer Homebrew Competition. The Bay Area Mashers are proud to continue our tradition of running one of the best competitions in Northern California, and we’d love to see your entry for the chance to win great prizes, awards and of course, bragging rights. The competetition is open to everyone, regardless of location. Last year we had 440 entries with submissions from across the US!

After the Final judging on April 3rd, we’ll host the Awards Ceremony and party at the Trumer Brauerei in Berkeley, where entrants and their guests are welcome to enjoy great beer, food, music, fun and a raffle with great prizes.

World Cup16 will be open to all styles and sub-styles of beer, mead, and cider, in BJCP categories 1 through 28.

The 2010 World Cup of Beer is a regional qualifying event for the Masters Championship of Amateur Brewing (MCAB), and is sanctioned by the AHA and BJCP.

Entry window opens Friday, February 19
Entry Deadline: Saturday, March 13, 2010

For more information (including online judge/steward registration, and downloadable pdf files of all entry forms), check out the
website for the 2010 World Cup of Beer at http://www.worldcupofbeer.com
____________

It's been a great comp, and we have an amazing judge pool (plus some great prizes for the winners). Last year we had a good showing from folks entering the Brewing Network as club affiliation, so that's always good to see! I haven't been on many of the forums lately as often as I like to, but will try to show up time-to-time to check and respond to posts- also feel free to shoot an email to me at worldcup@bayareamashers.org if you have any questions!

Rock on-

Dave

No Biscuit here. I generally just scope out the forums, but am mostly here for the audio. (hence the almost nil post #'s)

I'm filling out my entry and labels and have a question. What is my "entry number"? I'm assuming it is a number I apply to the entry form and corresponding bottles, e.g. entry number "1" on row one of form and then on each of the three corresponding bottles. I'd hate to miss getting my beers judged from a dumb clerical mistake! Obviously, this will be my first comp.

Thanks in advance to anyone who cares to clarify.

Cheers

I'm finding that we may have phrased that better, as the question has come up a bit. But you are correct, as you list your beers 1, 2, 3 etc- that same number would go on the corresponding bottle labels.

And welcome to the world of homebrew comps! I know you're a ways away, but hope you can join us for the awards. :jnj
