Wyeast Smack Packs

Does anyone know if there's any cell growth in a smack pack after breaking the nutrient pack? Just curious if I talk a 4 month old smack pack that according to Mr Malty has a viability of 10% (ie. 10 billion cells) ever increase in cells when fully puffed up?

No substantial growth, just initiated metabolic activity to proof the yeast and shorten your lag time. If you are looking to increase your cell count/mass, then a starter is in your future.
