My starter is a week old; What should I do?

Sat May 30, 2009 11:47 am

As I was getting ready to brew last weekend, I made a Cal Common Starter last Saturday to brew on Memorial day. On Sunday I injured my foot and could not brew so I left my starter sitting on the stir plate (off). Today, my foot is feeling much better and I want to brew.
I know I should have put it in the fridge and decanted it but I was drugged up and forgot.

Should I still use it or just use a backup packet of US-05 to be safe and make it into an ale?
