JZ talks about using a firm wrap. I am going to try the same thing here on my first lager. I have also seen people use light bulbs but I wouldnt say it is the preferred method.

How do you implement that? Set the carboy on top of it, or affix it to the side?

I just use a light bulb and a single sage controller, but we rarely get below 25F. The refrigerator has enough cooling capacity to stay ahead of the light bulb.

I place the pad under the carboy and afix the temp probe to the side of the carboy with a piece if bubble wrap and Duct tape.
