Now that I have your attention, Registration for the second annual Humpback Homebrew Competition is open. This year we have opened registration to the entire country, as opposed to last year where it was only open to Ms. Brewers. Judging will take place on July 19th, in the Golden Nugget Casino banquet room. with winners announced that afternoon. This year, we have increased the categories to 10, those being: 1,4,5,6,8,9,10,11,15 and 16. YES, you read that correctly.....NO IPA's, Porters, or Stouts!!!!!!

What was the reason for leaving out those categories? Just curious.

Last year we had 6 categories, those were 3 of them, and made up about 80% of the entries. We wanted to expand and challenge peoples brewing, not just throwing in 10lbs of hops at a beer and callig it an IIPA. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but not where we wanted to go this year. We will most likely bring them back next year, since we have been getting a LOT of whining!!!

Alas, I leave for China on the 18th, so I won't be able to make it down again. Maybe next year...

Judging was conducted yesterday, huge congrats to the Brewing Network Winners

Adam Meyers won Gold for Hop Breeze, American Pale Ale
Adam Meyers won Bronze for Little Sumpin' Mild, Mild
Josh Stuart won Gold for Josh's Schwartzbier, Schwarzbier

These 2 soldiers listed The Brewingn Network as their homebrew club!!!!

And, if anyone knows George Mowell, give him a huge congrats for winning Best of Show for his Kolsch II, Kolsch DC Homebrewers
