Told you... it'll be dry only, but someone will send in a liquid one, and they'll still judge it, and then it will get all kinds of fucked and people will be writing nasty emails, etc. I think the easiest solution would have been to do a split category of stock kit and another of yeast modified kits. Then people who bought it and brewed it before hand wouldn't get knocked out... but not up to me to decide these things, I just listen to the drama and hurt feelings and laugh. At the very least, you have a bunch of beer to drink....

They were on the fence during the last two shows, because people may have already bought the kit and brewed it earlier. I don't know why they didn't put the rules up three weeks ago like they said they would. Sucks for many people I'm sure, with only a few week left they really didn't leave people anytime.

The kit wasn't cheap and while dry yeast may have been fine, I still prefer liquid yeast with a starter. What's the point of the contest if you have no "artistic control" over the kit. Simply sanitation and fermentation....

You are 100% correct on this, I was all set with a starter this morning when I got the email from JP. I hadn't pitched so I rehydrated the dried yeast and we will see how it turns out. I wonder how things will shake out over the next few weeks.
