Terrapin Hop Harvest 2012

Mon Oct 08, 2012 5:24 pm

Met a couple out of town BN'ers at Terrapin's annual Hop Harvest Festival on Saturday. Actually, we briefly crossed paths at the LHBS earlier in the day, but at the festival, I just had to stop and say hello to the only other person flyin' the :bnarmy: . As you'd expect, this soldier and his wife were good people, and we hung out for most of the fest. At the end of the day, he actually scored some hops not even on the market yet from the Hop Union guy, and generously shared the bounty. I'll be brewing up an APA with Mosaic in the next week or two :D

The Terrapin Hop Harvest Festival is really a good educational experience, too. They take their Golden Ale, and dry hop 16 casks, each with a different variety. It's a great way to experience at least the aroma of a nice selection of hops.
It's also the annual release of their ever changing, wet hopped, "So Fresh and So Green, Green." This year it was all Citra. Not my favorite of the last few years, but still drinkable.

All in all, a damn fine way to spend an afternoon/evening.

To Keith & Georgette, Cheers!
