Piece Brewery kicks A$$

Sun Mar 09, 2008 9:14 am

I was in Chicago las week and had dinner at the Piece Brewery. Since they won some awards this year at the GABF, I thought I would give them a try. The pizza is just okay but their beer kicks ass! I had their Full-Frontal Pale Ale, Amarillo Brillo IIPA and Moose knuckle Barley Wine and Black Maria Porter. Too bad their Camel Toe Egyptian Pale Ale was out... A name like that, it has to be great.

What really impressed me is how balanced their big beers were. I was drinking their barley wine like it was a session beer. If you are ever in Chicago, you HAVE to swing by and and a few pints at Piece!

An added plus is they have guest beers on tap like Three Floyd's and Bear Republic.

JP - You have to get these guys booked as guests on the Session. If nothing else to discuss their beer names.

I hope you missed all the snow on Thursday! My cousin lives near the fairgrounds and he got 7 inches. He might as well had been in Chicago with you. :D

I was just there yesturday and had a barleywine and double IPA brewed with all amarillos. I must say they surprise me every time with how great their beers are. Of course they did win brewpub of the year, 2 awards for their beer, and brewmaster of the year in the 2006 world beer cup.

You're absolutely right... Jonathan Cutler is a brewing Jeti! Need to find a way to get him on the Sunday Session.
