what does everyone think of the longshot sixpack?

i got it the other day. i was dissapointed by the weizenbock, frankly. i based my last batch on the recipe rodney gave on jamil's show and it was one of the best beers i've produced to date. very rich, malty, spicy... ery muich along the lines of aventinus. the sam adams version just seemed a little weak. i don't have a lot of experience with weizenbocks (other than aventinus, i've drank my weight in those things) but it just seemed like a slightly pumped up dunkelweizen. that rich, deep bock character was missing.

as for the grape pale ale, it reminded me a bit of magic hat no. 9. just in the fact that it was not bitter or hoppy in the least, and had a slight fruit flavor. not bad, i mean they aren't going down the drain by any means, but i'd never really crave something like this. might be good in the summer though.

too bad mcdole's didn't get in there. i brewed that recipe as well so i wanted something to calibrate to. oh well, maybe in 47 years when all the hops grow back jim koch the III can finally release it.

So far I've only had the Grape Pale Ale.... and I was not a fan at all. I feel like it was a sorry attempt at DFH Midas Touch. The grape flavor I got reminded me of the concentrated frozen grape juice from Minute Maid or some shit. Maybe this is one of those beers that should sit for a while, given its sweetness, but I didn't care much for it.

I can never find the Longshot beers here in Houston. I'm sure it has to do with something stupid, like some labeling issue.

I haven't seen a Longshot six pack in over a decade. I think it's a conspiracy to fool us Texans.

I actually liked the Weizenbock quite a bit, and found in drier and spicier than an Aventinus (one of my favorite beers). The Grape Ale was just ok, I didn't get much of a fruit flavor or aroma. Bottom line, though, I wouldn't buy either of them again.

Then we agree? The Longshot beers don't exist. Stop telling us about them, we don't believe you. :)
