Clipper City Oxford Raspberry Wheat

Sun Jun 26, 2005 1:47 pm

12 oz. brown bottle. Best before April 2003. Not the freshest beer I've ever had, that much is certain. So much for buying fresh beer from my local merchants. The rust under the cap should have tipped me off, but I'll judge the beer itself on it's own merits, or lack thereof. Poured out a dull deep yellow color, probably already going south on me. No head at all, rather lifeless in carbonation as well. Aromas of raspberries, naturally, also stale malts, and yeast. I don't think I should be smelling yeast in this style of beer. Tasted stale also. Not fresh like a fruit beer should be. If Clipper City doesn't straighten out their distribution problems, this will be the last beer I ever drink from their brewery.
