Anchor Brewing Company

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year 2007 - that's what the label on the Magnum (50.7 oz) bottle I bought said. Further, the small print said it was the 33rd "Our Special Ale" from the brewers at Anchor. It is sold only from November to January.

I expected something spicy, something different. In other words, a Christmas Ale. Yesterday when I opened it and poured a few glasses we were all disappointed. Not that it was a bad beer by any means, but it wasn't anything special either. IMHO it was a stout - not much different than a Guiness draught out of the can. Compared to my expectation it was insipid, boring and a real let down.
