i have yet to brew this but am looking for something simple for my drinkin friends who dont really care for home brew. I have the BN scottish, my amber, and a dubbel belgian on tap and they dont really get as excited as I do, so this is what im thinking.

5.5 gal batch
8 lbs 2 row
.75 lbs crystal 20L

.5 oz cascade at 60 min
1 oz cascade at 5
(both pellet additions)

wlp 001 around 64-65*
at 70% efficiency promash says around 1.040.
think it'll work for them?

Considering your target audience, that looks pretty good. You could throw a pound of flaked corn in there to lighten it a bit. Consider the recipe stolen. :D

That looks great-
Adjust for 20 IBUs, so you can drink what's left over.

Nice little blonde. I agree with BDawg, go for 18-20 IBU's for that OG.

I've been brewing several blondes mixed in with my other batches for some BMC friends, pushing the OG up each time. Tonight just kegged 5 gal of "Imperial Blonde" (7.68% ABW) and threw another 5 gal on some cherries (for the ladies) that Danny W or Sean H (can't remember which one) posted in another thread. Friends have been loving each larger version better. Also been doing a Ord. Bitter/Special Bitter/ESB with them, also going over very good.

They may never buy a BMC again by the time I'm done.

right on.....and isn't that the idea??? get them all converted. My neighbor came over a few weeks ago, with a Mich Ultra, I gave him I pint ofan IPA that I had brewed up....he said "Man, this is good shit" as he chugged it. Couple days later, he came back, and asked what the alcohol % was....said he got a good buzz from it. Then showed him my set-up, he wants to come over now and play cards or something.... (thinks he's gonna drink up all my beer) HA!

Doesn't he realize that the only way he can drink your beer is to clean your mashtun?
