Hey BN Army

What's your favorite style for those hot summer days/nights.

Taking 4 styles along on a 7 day family camping trip in late June of this summer. It's generally damn hot and damn humid where we're going.

Last summer I had only been brewing for about 5 months, so I just took what I had without considering the conditions we'd be in. This year I'd like to take beers that are a little more thirst quenching and appropriate for sitting outdoors and relaxing with a few pints to take the edge off the heat!!!

Brewing starts this week so let me know what you think.

OH...I DO NOT have lagering capabilities just yet...I know, I know, that really limits some great summer style lagers but I gotta brew what I can so hit me with summer style ales that work well please.

Even if you had lagering capabilities, it would be tight to get them done I think, even with the tasty method.

American Pale Ale
Janet's Brown
Blonde Ale
Hefe

are just a few that come to mind.

Some cider would be nice too.

Of course, I drink anything, anytime of the year.

Tasty's Session Pale Ale is a really awesome beer. I turned it around in 7 days and it was just about as clean as a lager.

Belgian Golden? Session IPA?

As Darkside stated, a hefeweizen is a glorious quick brew that quenches ALL thirsts in the hot sun. Easy to brew, easy to drink (and cheap to make)!

My goto commercial summer beer is Deschutes' Twilight.
I LOVE that beer.

I wish they would brew it all year round. As much as I love Mirror Pond,
I walk right past it and grab this one every time.
Its an awesome lawnmower beer.

Gose is a great refreshing summer beer, German wheat with coriander and sea salt. I ferment mine with a Berliner Weisse yeast, for a bit of extra tartness. Search out a few commercial examples and give them a try......VERY refreshing.
