What to make with these hops?

Sat Jul 09, 2011 5:42 pm

I'm looking to do a IPA this week and have a good grain bill of :
Pale 88%
Munich 3%
Victory 5%
Wheat 2%
Cara Pils 2%

Just drawing a blank on what to do hop wise. I have Sorachi, Cascade, Amarillo, Galena and Sterling on hand. Throw out some ideas.

Thanks
Ryan

(Assuming 5 gals -- scale up accordingly for larger batches)

Use a hop blend consisting of 1/3 oz of each of Soriachi, Cascade, and Amarillo at 20, 15, 10, 5, 0 and dry.
Bitter with enough blended Stirling and Galena to bring the whole thing up to 1:1 BU:GU ratio.
Ie, if your wort O.G. is 1.065, aim for 65 IBUs. If it's 1.070, aim for 70 IBUs, etc.

That is a similar concept to this recipe of mine that is my house IPA:
