Anyone Brewing a Good Alpha King Clone out there????

Sat Jun 06, 2009 5:26 am

I was up in Chicago a couple of weeks back and enjoyed a Three Floyds Alpha King. This beer is one of those "Must Have's" when I'm in the Chicago area. The problem is in Texas I can't get this beer.... So I REALLY need to clone this thing. I've found three clones on the net with one being from BYO. Has anyone cloned this beer or brewed any of these recipes below?

I'd also love to hear the results of any of these recipes. I think I'll be brewing one of them two or three weeks from now

I was planning on brewing the BYO Alpha King clone. 2 questions:

1. Big Tex: Did you ever end up brewing one of these recipes? If so, how'd it turn out?

2. The base malt grain bill calls for Belgian 2-row and US 2-row. I have Belgian pilsner malt and UK 2-row on hand. Can I substitute these or will they not work?
Me: I'm gonna drink a Boon Geuze.
SWMBO: You're a booze goon.
