My first batch was a lot more recent than it seems...

But I'll second all the comments for an easy brown ale. My first was a honey brown... the recipe helped cover a couple of my mistakes (which is funny, now that my palette has improved, i can remember the off flavors now, even though that batch is long gone... but at the time, it was the best brown i ever drank!)

Let us know how it goes! 8)

My first was John Palmer's "Cincinnati Pale Ale" from howtobrew.com. If you haven't read it, I'd highly recommend it. Came out pretty good too! His recipe says dry yeast, but just get a package of some good liquid yeast. I used Wyeast 1056 American Ale, 1oz Nugget for bittering, and 1oz Cascade for aroma. It's all extract, so very easy to do.
