Beginning to wonder just how many people have won medals with this recipe! I would love to see the total numbers!

Looks like a great recipe and its on my list for my next run of american beers. One question: How long does it generally take for this beer to peak? I imagine the heavy hopping and complex grain bill would mean its a bit rough to begin with? I have a simpler, lower gravity american brown which is just coming good 4 weeks after brewing it.

Cheers,

I'm just about 1/4 way into my keg and it's been about 3 weeks. Definitely a little on the hoppy side for my taste in brown's to begin with, but damn it sure is tasty now.
On Tap:
1. Black as Coal Stout
2. Yellow Snow Pils
3. Smivey Brown Christmas Ale
4. Blueberry Pie Blonde

Secondary: empty
Primary: Doo Doo Brown Ale

on the horizon: undetermined

Well... you can add me to the list of folks who brewed this recipe for the AHA Club-Only American Ales competition and WON.

My version will also be sent to the national judging next month. The American Brown flight will be like a "Who's Who of Janet's Brown Ale" competition.

Thanks Tasty!

That's crazy. Two JBAs (so far). My club (DOZE) will decide later this month which American Ale they are going to send to COC. I'll have my Tasty APA, American Amber, and Janet's Brown for them to consider. These guys can brew so they'll be a couple dozen well made beers I'll have to get past.

Tasty

Do you think that Pacman yeast would work appropriately in this recipe? I have some washed and waiting in my fridge, but want to make this beer right! I have yet to taste it, but after hearing about it forever I think I need to get to brewing.
