This hop is a love it or hate it hop. I personally don't care for it. Like everyone else mentioned above it is very piney with a harsher bitterness. Arrogant bastard is an all chinook beer but there is a lot of malt to help balance it out. I personally wouldn't do and all chinook ipa unless you like pinesol. You could split it with cascade and the chinook will dominate the flavorvgiving you a good idea about the hop profile.

Thanks everyone. This is exactly the kind of stuff I was looking for. I didn't realize chinooks were so polarizing, but it's always interesting to hear how differently the characteristics can be perceived. Maybe I'll start with a small pale ale, and cut the later additions with cascades. Probably split the batch and dry hop one half too so I can experience the full spectrum. :jnj

Splitting batches are on of the best ways to get an idea of what a certain ingredient or yeast does to the beer. I do it all the time and find it very educational espeacially with dry hops or yeast
