Out of curiosity what spacing do folk typically use between faucets? 3" or 4" or does it really matter for the space you have available?

Space between handles makes no difference. Just make sure you can get your hand in there, and that there is enought material between the holes you drill for the shanks so that the fridge door retains some strength.
