You used the same cooler? The reason I ask is I just built one of these and something I didn't realize at the time was what a PITA it is to load it up with ice. Unfortunately, I cut my hole just a little further back than the one pictured and my keg rides up a little higher. So I can't open the lid very much to get ice in with the keg inside. I'm thinking I'll have to defeat the hinge and simply lift the lid off when I want to put ice in. I was wondering if anybody else had dealt with this.

This is a simple, self-contained and elegant solution to the age old problem of bringing a 5-gallon corny somewhere. I used mine on the 4th and it saved me all kinds of hassles. Plus it looks cool.

BTW- you want the Igloo 70qt. MaxCold roller. It's hard to find on the shelf, but it's the only cooler with the right dimensions, AFAIK. I finally found one (literally looked for 4 hours and probably 7 different places) and paid $50 for it at a Big 5 sporting goods store.

A six gallon bucket is the perfect size for a corny keg + ice. Obviously not insulated, but just add ice from time to time and you're good to go. The top sticks above the ice, but since you're drawing from the bottom, it doesn't matter.
