Not sure where you live, but you could still throw that sucker in the basement and use it as a ferm chamber when it gets colder. Just add heat.

+1, Great advice I hadn't considered. Utilize its insulative properties in a colder than desired environment controlling a heating device.

Thanks for the positive thoughts, but here in the Filthy South additional heat for fermentation is rarely required. I do happen to work in food & bev. Maybe one of the maintenance guys at work will hook me up with a great deal or send me to someone else who will. Not too likely, I suppose, but it's the best hope I've got right now.

UPDATE!!!

I took the kegerator to work to have the HVAC guy take a look at it. He told me the same thing you guys did: "It's dead...not fixable." Not to second guess anyone who offered advice, but I couldn't just push it out to the curb without at least trying something . Anyway, while at work I just happened to jokingly ask am coworker if he had a kegerator he would like to sell me. He said yes, he did!!! Turns out it's the same refrigerator model exactly only with a single tower instead of a double. I bought it from him for $175 and took it home and switched out the towers. I will do the same with the wheels later this week. But when I had it plugged in for about 4 days I noticed a large build up of ice on the coil and when it defrosts the water runs out of the front of the refrigerator. There is a hole in the back at the bottom of the coil that I think is a drain. I never cleaned this out on my other one. Do these need to be "snaked" periodically and if so how do you do that? If I tear up a second one I'm really gonna hear about it from the Mrs about getting a third one!! She has been great about the first 2, but I wouldn't expect her to be so understanding about a 3rd.

I'd have to see pictures to know for sure what you're talking about. If it's a drain to let out water created by defrosting & you don't know it's entire history, it could very likely be clogged. Drains do that when you don't take care of them. That's if it's a drain at all.

On my first one, an ancient mini fridge, I disconnected the auto-defrost completely & about once a month or so there would be enough ice build up that I'd unplug it, crack the door, put a 1x2 piece of pine to elevate the back & throw down a towel. By morning, the ice would melt, run out the front & the towel would get almost all of it. Mildly inconvenient, but easy & it gave me a good excuse to wipe down the entire inside & sanitize it with a couple Clorox wipes. Just a thought.
