+1. The thermal mass of the bottling bucket full o beer is so much greater than a itty bitty cup of water, that the temperature shouldn't be affected too much.


Yeah, I'm going to skip chilling the sugar solution from now on. Skipped it for the JBA and that wll hopefully be a nice even carbonation throughout all the bottles. I just did a gentle swirl to mix after racking was finished (poured in the priming solution just after the flow started into the bottling bucket). Had one batch that was very uneven and I think it was because I cooled it too much and it didn't mix well.

BTW, the porter definitely just needed more time. about 6-7 weeks in bottles and it's pouring with a nice tan head.
