Simple instructions on how to keg

Tue May 11, 2010 3:10 pm

I have been reading about kegging, and each place I read gives different information to the point where i have no f'ing idea anymore.
Do i hook up the CO2 line into the out valve which will send the CO2 to the bottom so it will work its way up, or into the CO2 valve and lay on the side and roll
Stuff like that
Can anyone give me simple instructions on how to do it properly

Thanks

if you are purging - co2 is heavier than air, it will go to the bottom, forcing air up and out until it is purged.

if you are carbonating, just on the co2 in dude, thats what its for. the rolling and what not is if you are impatient. search the forum for kegging instructions, or check out morebeer.com northernbrewer.com for instructions.

If you have the plastic keg connectors:

Grey is for the Gas going in (short tube at the top),

Black is for the Beer going out (from the long tube that goes all the way to the bottom).

Set your pressure on the CO2 tank...hook up your line to the gas IN side.....and forget about it for a week!!!! Set the tank pressure to the required pressure to hit your target carbonation volume.....which is based on the beer temperature, mine is around 42F, and I set my gas to 12psi, for 2-2.5 volumes of CO2.

Also, this thread is at the top of the Kegging Section - check it out, it helped me out when I started.
