All you can do is crank up the flame or just deal with soot. Sorry, that is why I am getting rid of my burners sooner or later.
Normal is getting dressed and driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for, in order to get the job you need to pay for the cloths and the car and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.

the wok style was definitely easier to install than any of the other options, but yeah, definitely a drag that it's a 100% or nothing situation.
I got the 8" rings, I can tell right now I need to plug the outer ring or orifices on the burner under my mash tun. Full blast should work for my HLT and I can probably get away with it under my kettle...
