Brew day, bad beer, and the newspaper

I was able to throttle down the heat to a point where I had a decent boil. Before this it was really hot, boiling over, foaming, spitting, and making all kinds of nasty noises. Looking at the picture makes me think I may need to lower the heat a bit more.
