I will be in Tianjin for a week, and then Beijing for a few days. Any hope of finding good beer there?

I doubt it, but don't eat any fertilizer or monkey brains or anything.

Just spoke with the owner of Great Leap Brewing Company from Beijing. I'm sure you will feel more than comfortable at either of their locations. While you are there ask for some more recommendations. He is an American ex-pat.

Work. Weeklong conference in Tianjin, but I flew in and out of Beijing.

Did not make it to Great Leap, unfortunately. I did learn that there is a Paulaner Brauhaus in Beijing, thoguh I didn't make it there. I found a few bars with decent German/Belgian bottle selections, but the draft choices were pretty slim. The market just doesn't support a fast enough turnover, I think.

Of course, now I'm dying for an IPA, so it's a good thing I am going to San Diego on Sunday!
