I was some how able to score a great job in West Virginia, and will be moving in May. I will be driving across the country from Bozeman, MT to Green Bank, WV. I am trying to figure out the best route there. I moved my wife out there last year via a northern route (South Dakota, Wisconsin, Chicago, Cincinnati), and am thinking of taking a more southern route this year (I will likely be driving alone), with a focus on stockpiling some beer before I settle in to the difficult beer (and food in general) landscape around Green Bank. My current plan is Bozeman to Denver to Missouri to Lexington Kentucky to WV. All locations are approximate, as an hour (give or take) change in drive times shouldn't be a problem.

Any easy access great beer in the Denver area (I will plan my hotel accordingly)?

Does anyone have suggestions of where would be the best area to stay in Missouri for the night with excellent beer and food? I am debating between Kansas City and St. Louis.

Experience with Kentucky? I hope to visit a distillery while there, but don't know which ones might be worthwhile to visit. Beer and town recommendations very much so appreciated.

Any other suggestions would be much appreciated. I shouldn't have a trailer, and the new job should cover any reasonable hotel costs.

Is there a route that takes you to Washington, Oregon, California, then over to WV?

If you pass through Louisville, Ky stop in Sergio's World Beers. Top rated beer bar with over 1400 different beers in stock. He specializes in Belgium beers.
West 6th & Country Boy breweries in Lexington are worth stopping at. Both are brewing some excellent beers.
If you are into sours, the trip to Rivertown brewing in Cincinnati is worth it.

That was my original plan before the job actually came through, which significantly speeds up the schedule. It could have been worse, though .

Excellent! I will check those out in KY. My wife's good friend lives in Cincinnati, so I may have to convince her to go and take me with her.

Stop in KC for some barbecue for lunch, but do STL for the beer. Urban Chestnut and Schlafly Taproom are both a must as far as breweries go. For beer bars, try iTap. If you need to hit up a bottle shop, do the Wine and Cheese Place.

In the KC area, Free State in Lawrence, KS is worth the detour.
