Asheville, NC

So. In addition to being in Johnson City in July, the wife has a festival she is planning on going to just south of Asheville, NC. in October. You hear all kinds of talk about Asheville being the place to go for beer on the east coast, but I want to know where should I make sure to go?

My Boss just retired to that town. He taunts me all the time about how the beer is better there than in Portland, OR.

He tells me there are some great breweries, but when we had a visit there for a team meeting 3 years ago, I was not impressed, albeit, would love to try again. All businesses and hobbies grow with time.

Spider,
I'm headed down there in a few weeks and have a list made up... I'll report back after I visit and let ya know what panned out.
I'm sick of chasing my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're going and hook up with them later.

The Wedge
Green Man Brewing
Oskar Blues - if they're open for visitors yet
Lexington Ave. Brewing or aka LAB
Asheville Brewing - solid beer, but the pizza is even better.

Those were standouts from my trip last July. The thirsty monk is supposed to be great as a craft beer bar but we didn't make it. The wedge's IPA was a standout of the trip along with LAB rasberry stout. Awesome beer town.

French Broad
Highland
Green Man

There are/were a few smaller ones but I think in NC in general there is some good beer but not a lot of outstanding beer.

Awesome. Thanks guys. I wonder if she'll be upset if I get myself drunk and lost and in Asheville the day she's at the festival... or if she's expecting I go with her to it... :?

Not beer related but You must go to early girl eatery for breakfast and get the Breakfast bowl with the pulled pork (I still have wet dreams about that breakfast)
