This is easily explainable. The first time or two you get a hangover you are pretty sure you are going to die. Thus there is that hope for an end to your misery.

By now, however, you know you aren't going to die. Thus there is no hope of relieve and despair sets in on top of the awful headache and feeling like you are going to puke again. (speaking of puking, if after puking your guts out you feel something fuzzy in the back of your throat, don't spit it out. That's your asshole. 8) )

Hope you are getting to feeling better.
