Hey asshats. I'm back! And I think I'll stick around

Anyway I'm in a new place and we've got well water. Do you all think a standard charcoal filter from home depot will be enough or should I buy my water from the store?

We have a lot of sulfur in our well water in FL.

I'd send a sample to Ward Labs to see what you have. You may have the best water in the world or something that sucks so bad you'll need to cut it with something to make it usable.

We have a community well which services the entire neighborhood. I have my water tested each year just in case. It doesn't change much for me year to year, but I like knowing what I have. For my lagers however, I always use distilled water from the store and build it up.

For the whole 'absence makes the heart' thing to work, you have to be gone long enough for people to miss you.

If I had to guess, it's probably too alkaline for most beers. FL groundwater is usually coming from limestone aquifers so it's really hard and alkaline. It also smells/tastes like peepeedoodoo.

Yea it does Bobbie. That's why I'd at least use a charcoal filter.

I plan on getting my hands on some ph strips soon to test the ph at least.

I might buy water for this first brew and send in some sampels for testing. Thanks for the suggestions!
