
I had an extra liter of wort from my mash last Sunday that I boiled, cooled then xfrd into a sanitized plastic container and put into the fridge. So this was a bad idea and I should NOT use this for my next starter?

If your sanitation is very good, you might use it IF it's within a few days (maybe 2?).
What I do with small volumes like that is freeze it, then reboil it at the time of using it for a starter.
The alternative is to pressure can it to steralize it - then you're good to go for a starter as is.
