Starter wort

Got my first starter on the stirplate since last night. She's got a good chunk of krausen in the vortex and only a small layer for the rest of the surface. I'm assuming that since it is constantly in motion, that's as good as it gets? I've never seen a starter in action so I'm just wondering.

Yes, pretty much. If you turn the plate off for a minute, you'll probably see bubbles rising and the krausen start to rise right before your eyes. Then turn the plate back on and you'll see it disappear again. It's a wonderful thing!

Cool man, thanks.
Came home tonight and there was a krausen ring a c-hair higher than the current krausen line so after 24 hours, the plate is off and the starter in the fridge.
