Bernzo-Matic O2 Oxygen Tanks - used for wort aeration?

I just received and Email from a Bernzo Rep. They are the people that do the Home Depot or Lowes distrubuted, disposable tanks of gases used for welding and brazing operations, assume plumbing based. They have told me, concering their O2 tanks of gas; "Our oxygen is 98% pure, we do not recommend that it come in contact with digestible goods."

I was thinking about using these tanks for cold side wort aeration prior to fermentation with the standard regulators and 0.5-2 Micron stones.

Any thoughts on its use? Has anyone used these containers? What do you use currently?

If you go to the William's Brewing site, they actually show (label turned around) these vessels with their regulator, tubing and stone setup.

This is the last puzzle on my brew cart and would like to know what others are doing.

Thanks for the feedback!

I wonder what the extra 2% is made up of? I also haven't died yet from using them.

Any off flavors in the beer that you can tell? What is your setup? Thanks!

I got the same regulator, tubing, stone setup that you mentioned. No off flavors. I think they are just performing a little CYA. I also force carbonate with CO2 that I have had filled at welding gas supply houses. They are not giving me food grade gas, either. RDWHAHB.

i am sure that the other 2% is regular air.

i am 100% sure that they said not to add it to food products because they don't want to get sued over anything.

I use bernzomatic oxygen on most of my batches.

I have a feeling that ETOH is more toxic than whatever is in the CO2.
