OK heres the prob, the last couple batches I brewed I've had major blow offs except for one... surprisingly the 3068 which always blows! Came close but no cigar. I'm fermenting on the lower side of the temps than normal, cleaning with "billy mays" oxyclean, sanitizing with star san.. The beers turning out great but for some reason I'm getting huge blow offs on all of them, Anyone else having the same problem?? All wyeast smack packs no starters.

BTW for a really good Hefe, brew right before a good ice storm, No power or heat for a week does wonders for hefe's

don't most wheat beers blow foam like crazy? I've only brewed one, but it left a nice brown tub girl style stain on my bathroom ceiling.

Now I just use a blow off tube for everything.

Since one of my first batches resulted in the mess below, I use a tube every time.

I was almost afraid to look at this thread. I thought JP might have authored it.

no my 3068 didnt blow....

all others are, the last one that did was wyeasts 2112 california lager

Blowoff is healty. Just be prepared for it with a big blow off tube, a bigger carboy, or try some Fermcap-S in your fermenter.

well since the 6.5 gallons are extinct what hose fits in a better bottle?? Think i might look into the fermcap_s , Is there any off flavors from using it? My 2112 was in a 6 gallon filled right at the top of the B in the name, maybe 4.5 gallons??

The wheat yeasts nearly always blow off. Just use the blowoff tube every time. No probs.
