Difusion stone!!

So I tried out aerating with aquarium pump + filter and I loved it. No more shaking the carboy.

One thing that in my mind though is that when I used a difusion stone (2 microns) I couldn´t feel any air coming out of it when I put it very close to my hand, as opposed with no difusion stone, which I felt a flow of air going out of the tubing.

And I cound´t see any bubbles comming out of the difusion stone, or on the surface of the beer...

So, is my difusion stone clogged or it´s normal to don´t see any signs of bubbles/air comming out of it?

By the way, I sanitized it by boiling for about 10 minutes and I was careful not to touch the stone after it sanitized...

You should see bubbles.

Hmmmm, what could it be then?

Maybe the airflow from my aquarium pump is too low (I bought the one from northerbrewer)???

Maybe the difusion stone is clogged? If so, what´s the procedure to get it un-clogged?

Boil it. That should dissolve any dried beer or what-have-you that is blocking it - in addition to sanitizing it.

I use the 5 micron stone and my pump pushes lots of bubbles, but with considerable effort. Does anyone else use a 2 micron stone with a pump successfully? I'd be worried that it can't force the air through.

YMMV, but my stone requires about 12psi from Oxygen to really bubble good. When I hook it up I have to make darn sure there is no leak anywhere in the system for it to work--so it's taking a lot of pressure.

Your pump may not be up to it. Then again, I've never tried.

I either boil or just leave it in StarSan all the time.

Thats it!! Thanks guys, I´ll have to either change my difusion stone to a 5 micron one or my air pump to a more powerful one...
