So I made the all-grain Chocolate Hazelnut Porter from Morebeer.com, and fermented with a packet of S-04. Seemed like everything went fine, I did not add anything to the water, my efficiency was normal for my system, and I taste no infection. But there is a large milky white ring around the fill line of every bottle of this stuff. It goes away after refrigeration for a few days, but it's still unsightly. I also get a bit of a milky taste in the final beer. Could this be from not using my grain soon enough after I got it from B3? It came crushed and i didn't get a chance to brew for a good 3 weeks. I do not taste any off flavors besides the milkyness, which could also just be the chocolate or the hazelnut flavoring.
My other thought would be that I had a ton of sediment in the fermenter, and I could have not gotten good enough hot or cold break, resulting in more proteins.
Any thoughts?
