DannyW's pic looks pretty similar to countertop partial mashing which was described in the October, 2006, BYO. It's online at http://byo.com/feature/1536.html. I used to do this before going all grain. I picked up a 2 gallon cooler and used a 5 gallon paint strainer bag from Home Depot as the lauter screen. I could fit up to about 4 lbs of grain in it and usually got around 60% efficiency.
