wiring up a fermentation chamber

Fri Jul 13, 2012 5:23 pm

HELP....I have a 2005 Frigidaire Gallery Freezer, with a computer control. I will be installing a Love Control TSS2. Would someone be willing to take the time and give me instructions on how to wire this one up. It has motherboard user interface, that I will either keep live so the light and defroster work or if I have to I will disconnect this one and have the Love controller do all the work....HELP It's hot out and I can't brew.. (or ferment anyway). Thanks in advance for any help you may have. Simie

I have no advice to give you, but another new forum user recently posted about love controllers, so thought I'd like to that thread for you in case you wanted to try to contact him to ask about it. CAUTION! As a new user to the forum, you may not be able to PM him directly (still on 'possible spammer' probation), but could try posting in that thread if he is checking in here regularly. http://www.thebrewingnetwork.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=28584

apologies for not coming across this thread sooner. here is a link for the wiring diagram:
http://www.homebrewtalk.com/gallery/sho ... hoto=16665

also there are a few videos on youtube i found helpful, try searching "dual stage temp control." i'm no electrician and had my work checked, and don't recommend attempting this if you are unfamiliar with wiring, but here's what i took from the experience-

use 14 gauge romex

you need to break the bridge on the receptacle you're wiring to on one side (in order to power the hot and cold separately).

the 14 gauge wire is thick enough that one lead will fill a port on the love controller. i needed to couple wires to bridge ports 5,7, and 10 (the hot leads).

i put everything in a 5" x 7" project enclosure from radio shack. if you have it wired with one temperature probe, the unit will beep when powered up as the default setting is for two probes. hold the set button for 10 seconds, scroll up to "P5" and set it to 1.

parameters i have set:
SP1- desired temp
SP2- (-1.5). allows for overshoot of fridge compressor or terrarium heater
r0- dep
r2- 1.5
c1-dir
c2-inv

this is what i've found easiest. any questions i could try to explain in further detail.

cheers

Thank you all for your interest and for taking the time to respond. After much research and time I figured it out. It works great and I would highly recommend setting up a ferm chamber like this. It's a twenty one cubic foot and will keep temps within two degrees. Thanks again....Simie
