It's day two of my double IPA that I brewed for fermentation. I went out to check on it this evening and noticed my freezer appeared to have a busted motor and wasn't working. To make matters worse, I regularly keep a reptile heater in there that was on (for the times when it gets cold - I keep the freezer in my shed). So, I open up and reach down into the steam that is my freezer. I've since pulled out the beer and brought it inside the home which is at about 72 degrees. Each of my carboys (split a 10 gallon batch into two 6.5 glass carboys) feels about the temperature of hot water coming out of the facet.
So, that's my problem. Either the yeast is dead or done (will check specific gravity tomorrow once it cools. Anyone got any ideas though? Is it salvagable? What if fermentation isn't done, but I pitch new yeast once it cools?
Thanks in advance for the feedback... after over 100 batches, worst brew experience to date for me.
