Keeping my mead dark

Tue Sep 01, 2009 10:46 am

I saw a good deal on some dark wildflower honey at the Farmers Market today. The only meads I have ever done used the lighter colored honey. I was wondering if I made a mead with the dark stuff will it stay darker or will all the stuff that makes it dark fall out when the mead is finished????

Yes, it will stay dark. I made a mead with Pecan Honey about 6 years ago, it is still as dark as it was when I made it. About as dark as a Newcastle Brown. The honey was almost as dark as molasses. I still have most of the batch, maybe I'll crack a bottle tonight and post a pic.

Ok, I'm lazy and don't want to take the time to upload the pic to a host. So, here is a public link to the picture on Facebook.
