Yeast hulls tend to get it going if its slowed down a lot. also check the ph becaue that can be an issue with mead.

What I do is: rehydrate the yeast with go-ferm, mix up the must, pitch the yeast, aerate heavily, cap it and wait for lag phase to end, add fermaid-k, aerate heavily for the first three days, swirl gently every day after that until its almost done, once its down to a few blips per minute rack into secondary and continue swirling til its done. I use ICV-D47 most of the time, K1v1116 sometimes. My fermentations are usually done in under a month.

I checked back through my brew log: I made a 12 lb mead on December 17, 1989. It fermented for a little over 6 months and was bottled on July 12, 1990. That was some good stuff. I won a first and a best of show with it.
