Salem

Just checking in from Salem Oregon. I love the show, I've been listening to the archives, and I'm up to september. I learned a lot more already, and have got some good ideas.

I've been brewing for about 6 years, but only really seriously for the last 2 years. I really got going since I got the keg set up, I used to hate bottles! Now I'm finding that I'm bottling a few more, just to keep a bit longer.

The great controversies of brewing:

I use both glass and plastic fermentors, but I'm switching to more plastic, glass for long term.
Batch sparge ala Denny, including the blue cooler, faster and easier.

Keep up the good work!

Hey nolvar,

Welcome to the forum. Isn't Denny the "cheap and easy" guy?

Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza.

Yep, he it. I have been using a system modeled after his for years. I am also a "cheap and easy" guy.

Thanks for the welcome, yup the cheap and easy system for me! (Until I build the herms or rims... :)

Just got my refractometer, so I'm looking forward to some more accurate readings for next brew, hopefully next weekend.

I just kegged a porter last night, modeled on Black Butte, and it is smooth and tasty, almost creamy even.
