1 Day, no tobacco, no stink, very happy

So yesterday morning I woke up and opened a fresh pack of smokes like I start every day. Like I've started every day for the past 25 years. For the last 12 years, (since there was a kid in the house) I've been smoking outside or in the garage so that's an hourly thing that I do and a waste of time of course.

A couple hours latter the mailman comes with a package containing an electronic cigarette I ordered last week from a reputable vendor here in Canada. I had previously done some research of course so I knew what needed to be done at first use etc... and I took my first vape. It's Vaping not Smoking, because the e-cig produces a relatively harmless vapor replacing the toxic smoke from a real (analog) smoke.

I've been pretty satisfied ever since. I think I bought the right device to finally help kick the smoking habit. Since the mailman's visit I've not had a regular smoke and I haven't been in the garage. I can vape in the house as it is not toxic and does not smell. In short it's awesome. I picked out some cool vape flavors (e-juice) and now I am going surfing to find some more flavors and lighter nicotine dosage as my first choice was a little high and I needed to cut it so I didn't keep getting a nic Buzz!

I would recommend anyone try this if they want to get rid of smokes in their lives. Be aware that this is a replacement for smoking not a cure for addiction. I am hoping to ween myself off the nicotine eventually but if that doesn't happen at least I know what I'm doing now is healthier and cleaner.

My initial startup cost was as much as 1 months worth of cigarettes and I have enough e-juice to last at least a month. My next e-juice purchase for the following months supply should be 1/4 to 1/2 the cost of smoking so I should save money. Like everything else though there are many mods, upgrades and new equipment to spend money on.

This is a series of videos a guy did on starting with an e-cig that I found very helpful. Worth watching if your at all interested in quitting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQ5eJJxzyqM&feature=related

Wish me luck as I go on to day 2!

Awesome!!! Best of luck in kicking this nasty ass habit!!!

My mother-in-law just got diagnosed with lung cancer and has been in and out of the hospital for the past year with various breathing/respiratory issues. All dues to years of smoking. I'm never one to tell people I don't know what to do, but keep at it...you'll thank yourself when you're 70, as will your children.

Now...time to go and destroy the liver :)

Plus you will finally be able to taste beers the way they were meant to be tasted. Smoking ruins your sense of smell and taste. Good luck to you.

My father-in-law is 71 years old; he started smoking when he was 14

In his 69th year he was told to quit smoking that day or he'd die within the month. He had lung disease, asthma, blood pressure issues, and had worked his ass off on the farm every day since the day he could start breathing in grain dust and North Dakota cold air.

He stopped that day and has slowly been getting better. He'll never breathe easily but he hasn't since before he was in the service in his 20s.

A month later, my wife asked him how he felt after a month of not smoking. "Well...this beer [Schlitz] is terrible now that I can taste it."

Good for you! I've been clean for the past 7 years after kicking a 2 pack a day habit for 35 years.
You will never regret it!

Congrats. I kicked a 2 pack a day habit 9 years ago. I went cold turkey. The difficult part was the behavioral change, stopped bar hopping. started to get healthy. The hardest part was finding something to with my hands...

That's what I have found as well. The e-cig is fairly good for that.

Thanks for all the wishes and reminders everyone.

I wish the e-cig was around when I quit. Though it does get easier as time passes.
